28 Days of Black Excellence

Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods make up the eclectic professional wrestling trio known as The New Day in the WWE. The trios gimmick was originally presented as a stereotypical black gospel act preaching the power of positivity. When faced with a career-killing gimmick they took matters into their own hands and made the gimmick their own.  The New Day went from being booed out of the building on a nightly basis to become wildly popular and one of the most popular entertaining entities in the history of the business. From a trombone named Francesca, their very own Booty-O’s cereal, Ice Cream Bars Pop Culture awareness and a slew of merchandise the New Day continues to prove why they rock.

Inside of the ring, they are 2 Time WWE Raw and Smackdown Tag Team Champions and in 2016 they were tops in merchandise sales during WrestleMania Week. The New Day also holds the record as longest reigning tag team champions with a combined 532 days.  Xavier Woods holds a Ph.D. in educational psychology from Capella University and Woods also an avid video gamer has a YouTube channel where he invites other WWE superstars, gaming personalities to play games. Big E (Afro-Caribbean) was a competitive powerlifter placing first in the USPAL U.S. Open Powerlifting Championships in 2010 and 2011. He also was a defensive lineman at the University of Iowa where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. Kofi Kingston (Ghanaian-American) attended Boston College and has held over 14 Championships during his WWE tenure.

The New Day has also destroyed the stigma of black nerds by just being comfortable in their own skin which makes them relatable to other fellow Blerds. So don’t you dare be sour and feel the powahhhhhhh of the New Day.
