NFL Week 2 Highlights and Lowlights

NFL Week 2 Highlights and Lowlights
Its only two weeks into the 2017 NFL Season and its sheer pandemonium…ok I take that back if you are a Bengals fan you have reason to worry about the remainder of the season. Here are some Highlights and Low lites from week 2.
Note to readers: I didn’t cover all of the games, just those that had interesting storylines.

Houston Texans 13 @ Cincinnati Bengals 9
Both teams coming off Week 1 L’s both teams look to gain their first win of the young season. In week 1 Houston got harassed by the Jacksonville Jaguars Defense and ran slap over by stud RB Leonard Fournette and Cincy was shut out at home by the division rival Ravens. Texans Deshaun Watson made his first pro start going 15/24 and only 125 yards  and scored one rushing touchdown. Watson was also the games leading rusher with 67 yards on 5 attempts. For the Bengals QB Andy Dalton went 20/53 with 224 yards in the air in the loss.
Highlights: The Bengals scored 3 times via the foot of their kicker Randy Bullock. Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins had 73 yards on 7 grabs.

Lowlites: The Bengals start the season 0-2, They haven’t seen the endzone at all this season (pre game warm ups don’t count) and Offensive Cordinator Ken Zampese hits the unempoyemnt line after getting canned (fired) for the Bengals woes on O. Zampese was replaced by Bill Lazor.

NY Jets 20 @ Oakland Raiders 45
Another game where both teams lost their week one openers the Jets and the Raiders look for their first Dub of the season. Oakland scored 6 times,  Derek Carr threw three TD’s by air all to WR Michael Crabtree and RB’s Jalen Richard and Marshawn Lynch , ran for 1 each and WR Cordarrelle Patterson..yes… that Cordarrelle Patterson  Scored one on the ground as well and he rushed for 57 yards for the Silver and Black. Jets QB Josh McCown threw for two TD’s to newly acquired Wideout Jermaine Kearse.

Highlights: The Raiders were firing on all cylinders and they even got Cordarrelle Patterson involved in the offense.
Lowlights: The Jets leave The OAK at 0-2 to make matters worse they had to watch Beast Mode dance on the Raiders side line in the latter stages of the game. Ouch.

Buffalo Bills 3 @ Carolina 9
The Panthers won their road opener against the 49’ers in week 1 23-3 and the Bills beat The Jets 12-21. The Bills finally scored in the 4th quarter and Panthers “Golden” Graham Gano went 3 for 3 for the Panthers. Bills RB Shady McCoy was held to only 9 yards on 12 carries by the stingy Carolina D while Cam Newton threw for 228 yards and Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin snagged 77 yards on 6 catches.

Highlights: Julius Peppers tacks on 2 Sacks in his return to Carolina which brings his career Sack total to 144 which ranks fifth all time.
Lowlight: Even though the Panthers won The lost All World TE Greg Olsen to a broken foot and looks to be out for 6-8 Weeks.

Dallas Cowboys 17 @ Denver Broncos 42
In the marquee  early season matchup the Denver Broncos host the Dallas Cowboys. The Broncos D imposed their will early and often on a Dallas Cowboys Offensive line that is considered as one of the best in the league.  They kept Running Back Zeke Elliott in check with on 9 rushing yards. The Broncos didn’t let an hour weather delay stop them as they only allowed 268 total yards. Cowboys All Reliable TE Jason Witten led all receivers in catches and yards (10 catches and 97 yards) and also scored 1 TD. Broncos RB C.J Anderson ran for 118 yards and 1 score and QB Trevor Semien Threw 4 TDs, Two of those to Emmanuel Sanders.

The Highlights: The Broncos looked and played like a legit Super Bowl contender but we’ll see as the season progresses
The Lowlight: Zeke Elliott didn’t handle the loss well as he refused to play defense after a Denver interception. Ahh the growing pains.
